Setup & Installation
Installing EmulatorHub emulators is straightforward:
- Download the EmulatorHub package from our website
- Run the installer as administrator on Windows
- Follow the setup wizard to choose installation directory
- Launch EmulatorHub and select your desired emulator
- Configure settings and load your game files
Each emulator includes a built-in setup guide and configuration wizard to help you get started quickly.
Minimum requirements vary by emulator, but generally you'll need:
- Windows 7 64-bit or newer (Windows 10+ recommended)
- Intel i3-2100 or AMD equivalent processor
- 2-4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for newer consoles)
- DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card
- 500 MB - 1 GB free storage space
For optimal performance with newer console emulators (PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X), we recommend modern hardware with dedicated graphics cards.
EmulatorHub supports a wide range of controllers:
- Xbox controllers (wired and wireless) - automatically detected
- PlayStation controllers (DualShock 4, DualSense) - may require DS4Windows
- Generic USB controllers - use our built-in mapping tool
- Keyboard controls - fully customizable key bindings
Access controller settings through the Input Configuration menu in each emulator. Our auto-detection feature handles most popular controllers automatically.
Performance & Optimization
Performance issues can have several causes. Try these optimization steps:
- Lower internal resolution scaling in graphics settings
- Disable advanced graphics enhancements temporarily
- Update your graphics drivers to the latest version
- Close unnecessary background applications
- Enable frameskipping if available for the specific emulator
- Switch to a different graphics renderer (OpenGL/Vulkan/DirectX)
Each emulator includes performance guides and automatic optimization recommendations based on your hardware.
EmulatorHub offers several graphics enhancement options:
- Internal resolution scaling (2x, 4x, 8x, or custom)
- Anti-aliasing (MSAA, FXAA) for smoother edges
- Anisotropic filtering for better texture quality
- Custom shaders and CRT simulation filters
- Aspect ratio correction and widescreen patches
- Texture filtering and enhancement
Start with 2x resolution scaling and gradually increase settings based on your system's performance capabilities.
Legal & ROMs
Emulation software itself is completely legal. Emulators are legitimate programs that recreate console hardware functionality and are protected under fair use and reverse engineering laws.
However, you must own the original games and console to legally use ROM files. EmulatorHub does not provide copyrighted game files - you must obtain these legally through your own game collection or authorized digital stores.
Legal sources for game files include:
- Creating backups from your own physical game collection
- Digital stores like PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, Nintendo eShop
- Official retro gaming collections and remasters
- Homebrew and public domain games
- Games with expired copyrights or open-source releases
EmulatorHub provides tools to help you manage and organize your legally obtained game library efficiently.
